Most Awarded Actress-Director Returns with Controversial New Film!

Agnès Jaoui has recently wrapped up filming her 6th feature film as a director, writer, and actress. Titled “Time for Us,” the film tackles a topical and divisive issue… What will it discuss? Let’s dive in!

Agnès Jaoui is back in the director’s chair! She has just completed her 6th feature film, “Time for Us,” with filming concluding today, July 7, 2025, after seven weeks of production.

This marks her first solo-written film since the passing of her longtime scriptwriting partner, the late Jean-Pierre Bacri.

In a press release announcing the shoot, Studio Canal (the film’s distributor) stated: “Five years after ‘Public Square,’ her last film with her counterpart, she makes a striking return alone with the comedy ‘Time for Us.’ With her usual sharpness and boldness, she immerses us in a burning societal issue and the inevitably complex human relationships that stem from it.

A Film Addressing #MeToo in the Opera World

So, what is the new film about? “Time for Us” will tackle the #MeToo movement, not within the film industry, but in the live performance arena, specifically opera. Set against the backdrop of an ambitious production of the opera “The Marriage of Figaro,” tensions rise when a sexual assault accusation surfaces, jeopardizing the production and forcing everyone to take a stand. The conflicts of opinion and generation become apparent…

Agnès Jaoui discussed the theme of the presumption of innocence on the show “28 Minutes” on Arte last fall.

A Stellar Cast Led by Daniel Auteuil

For this new film, Agnès Jaoui, who will also star in it, has assembled a talented cast including Daniel Auteuil, Eye Haïdara, Claire Chust, and Oussama Kheddam.

The shooting took place from May 19 to July 7 at the Château du Marquis de Sade (Lacoste, Luberon) and Paris. No release date has been announced yet.

“Time for Us” is the 6th feature film by Agnès Jaoui, following “The Taste of Others” (2000), “Look at Me” (2004), “Let’s Talk About the Rain” (2008), “Under the Rainbow” (2013), and “Public Square” (2018).

Throughout her career, Agnès Jaoui has received no fewer than 7 César Awards, making her the most awarded woman in the history of the ceremony. The most recent was an honorary César awarded in February 2024.
