NCIS Shocker: Tony & Ziva Axed, Michael Weatherly Responds to Fan Outcry!

Just over a week after the cancellation of “NCIS: Tony & Ziva” was announced, fans took to Times Square in an attempt to save the crime series starring Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly.

The year 2025 closed with disappointing news for NCIS enthusiasts… On December 21st, Paramount+ officially canceled the spin-off NCIS: Tony & Ziva after just one season.

This cancellation came merely two months after the final episode aired on the American platform. It was with heavy hearts that Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly once again bid farewell to the characters they had portrayed for many years.

Fans Rally to Rescue the Show

It seems that NCIS fans are not yet ready to say goodbye to Tony and Ziva. According to reports from Deadline, on Wednesday, December 31, fans purchased airtime on a Times Square billboard in New York to try to save the series.

“At the 46th minute of each hour, for 24 hours, a billboard displaying ‘Save Tony and Ziva’ was broadcast for 30 seconds,” said the organizers of this rescue mission.

On the billboard, there was also a QR code that passersby could scan, which directed them to a petition aimed at persuading Paramount+ to reconsider their decision.

This gesture deeply moved Michael Weatherly. The actor responded on Twitter: “I want to say how much this made me smile and maybe even brought a tear to my eye… It’s wonderful, and I want to warmly thank everyone involved in this project. I see you. I appreciate you. Big kiss for 2026.”

Now, it remains to be seen whether Paramount+ will be moved by this outpouring of love from the fans. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time a show has been saved by its viewers.

We all remember S.W.A.T. being saved from cancellation twice thanks to fan mobilization. Will NCIS: Tony & Ziva experience the same fate? Time will tell…

In the meantime, you can catch Season 1 of NCIS: Tony & Ziva starting Saturday, January 10th at 9:10 PM on M6.
