Michael Weatherly Confirms Exciting NCIS Return After 10 Years!

After a decade away, Tony DiNozzo is set to make his grand comeback in NCIS: Special Investigations! Earlier this July, the American network CBS announced that Michael Weatherly would be reprising his role in the upcoming season 24, which is scheduled to air this fall.

Michael Weatherly Shares Insights on His NCIS Comeback

While details of his return were initially vague, the actor took advantage of a convention in the United Kingdom to reveal more about what awaits his character.

Weatherly disclosed that his entry in season 24 of NCIS would be connected to the spin-off Tony & Ziva, which was unfortunately canceled after just one season.

“I can tell you one thing: there is a link between Tony & Ziva and the story that was built around them. There won’t be any rewriting like ‘the story between Tony and Ziva never existed,'” he stated, as reported by TV Insider.

“I’d love to announce something big… I just know it’s going to be an exciting return. […] I’ve really enjoyed watching the series evolve over the last ten years since I left, but it’s now a different show.”

“I respect the series I’m joining and am aware of its outstanding success. That doesn’t mean what we did can’t coincide with NCIS and become integrated. But if I say more, I’ll start giving away specific details, so I’ll stop here,” he concluded.

Thus, fans will need to wait until this fall to find out exactly what role Tony DiNozzo will play in the NCIS team. It’s worth noting that in the spin-off, the character is the director of a security company and lives in Paris with Ziva (Cote de Pablo) and their daughter.
