Breaking Bad Creator’s Sci-Fi Series Fans Hit with Bad News!

Following the global success of his series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, the brilliant creator Vince Gilligan returned to the screen in 2025 with a sci-fi series as original as it is perplexing, Pluribus, airing on the Apple TV platform. This marked a return to his roots for the screenwriter, who began his career writing episodes for the cult series X-Files.

Aired on Christmas Eve, the season finale of Pluribus thrilled viewers, who are already eagerly anticipating a second season filled with twists and turns, and hopefully, answers. Unfortunately, recent statements from the screenwriter have somewhat dampened their overflowing enthusiasm.

“It’s Going to Frustrate Some People.”

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Vince Gilligan expressed caution regarding the release date of season 2, noting that he and his team need to take all the necessary time to be satisfied with the results, implying that they are currently far from finished:

“It’s going to frustrate some people, […] [But] we work at the pace we work, much like glaciers melt at their own pace […] So yes, there will be some time between seasons.” Given that it’s already 2026 and filming hasn’t started, viewers can hope for a release sometime in 2027 at the earliest.

This deliberately slow and cautious creative approach stands out in the current streaming landscape, where season 2’s are often already in motion while the first has just been released. In the era of platforms, taking time to write is a real luxury, and few creators are granted such trust: but not everyone is Vince Gilligan.
