Top Sci-Fi Series Ever Hits 4.4 Rating, Becomes Most-Watched on Its Platform!

Science fiction appears to be a winning genre for Apple TV+. While the platform is celebrating the success of Scott Derrickson’s movie The Gorge, starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, which ranked number one in 99 countries, it also boasts a hit series.

Sci-Fi Hits Big on Apple TV+

Having become a phenomenon through word-of-mouth and receiving favorable critical and public reception, this sci-fi series, rated 4.4 out of 5 by AlloCiné viewers, is regarded as one of the best TV productions in recent years.

Its highly anticipated Season 2 began airing on January 17 and has not only captivated loyal fans but also attracted new ones, as Apple TV+ has announced that it is now the most-watched series in the history of the platform!

The streaming service reported that the series accumulated 589 million minutes viewed across all its episodes to date, according to ComingSoon. This number is expected to increase with the release of the remaining episodes of Season 2.

“Severance” Outperforms “Ted Lasso”

Apple TV+ indicated that with the release of Season 2 of Severance, the streaming platform experienced a 126% growth in subscriber numbers in January 2025. Additionally, it surpassed one of the platform’s most popular programs, Ted Lasso, in terms of viewing minutes.

The team behind this unique production, created by Dan Erickson and directed by Ben Stiller, celebrated this news through a post on Apple TV+’s Instagram account.

Ben Stiller also thanked the fans on his X (formerly Twitter) account: “Thank you to everyone who waited for Season 2 and to those who have just discovered the series.
