Nicole Wallace’s Unique Prep for “À contre-sens 2” Thanks to a Netflix Series!

The “Against the Current” franchise is back with a sequel! In 2023, the first movie became the biggest hit in the history of Prime Video for a non-English language local original.

Available since December 27, 2024, on Prime Video, “Against the Current 2” continues the steamy romance against a backdrop of action and drama between Noah (Nicole Wallace) and Nick (Gabriel Guevara).

However, their relationship takes a dramatic turn, especially as everyone from their families to new acquaintances and people from their past do everything to tear them apart.

The couple no longer understands each other and struggles to move forward together, each pursuing different projects and trajectories leading to a painful end for their relationship.

Intensified Preparation for Nicole Wallace

For this sequel, Nicole Wallace intensely prepared for her portrayal of Noah. “Against the Current 2” focuses much more on the evolution of her character, who steps back from her relationship with Nick and asserts herself more as a woman. To achieve this, the actress collaborated with coach Yaël Belicha.

“It was truly incredible because I didn’t have one for the first film,” Nicole Wallace shared. “I was very scared I wouldn’t be able to play Noah again since I hadn’t portrayed her for a year.”

“At the same time, I really wanted her to undergo different changes because a year had passed and she had experienced this traumatic event with her father. And starting a relationship at 18 is already very complicated,” she added.

In “Against the Current 2,” Noah heads to university, which means meeting new people, making friends, and realizing that there can also be new enemies.

“A lot is happening for Noah, and it was very accurate and relevant in her evolution,” the actress explains. “That’s why I was so excited about doing this film, as it’s a lot of fun for me as an actress to put all these key ingredients into the new movie.”

A Common Link Between “Against the Current” and “Not One More”

In 2024, Nicole Wallace starred in another successful project, the series “Not One More” on Netflix. This hard-hitting series shook viewers with its dark and difficult plot but was deeply rooted in the current issues of assault and sexual violence against women.

The Spanish actress played Alma, who leads a revolution in her high school to help her friends who are victims of sexual assaults and rapes and to end the silence that reigns in the institution. To prepare for her role, Nicole Wallace worked with the same coach who later assisted her for “Against the Current 2”!

“I learned that I enjoy working with a coach before filming because they help a lot and provide many tools,” Nicole Wallace confided. “You feel much more confident when you arrive on set. It’s very important to be fully prepared to facilitate and speed up the work of others and not be a problem during the entire filming process.”

Working with the coach allowed Nicole Wallace to give even more depth to Noah and to get psychologically closer to her character:

“Being able to understand a character’s arc and delve into their past and explore what you want them to fight for and what their needs are in this film is a process that makes me happy.

In the first film, I didn’t do this work, and it was harder for me to talk about Noah because I didn’t really know her. And now, I feel like I have created her very deeply and can talk about her better.”
