On the film side, the platform bet on the “Contratiempo” saga by Spanish author Mercedes Ron, which led to an English remake late last year.

Will Off-Campus Be Prime Video’s Next Big Hit?

It was somewhat surprising when, last October, Prime Video acquired the adaptation rights to the “Off Campus” literary phenomenon. The first book, written in 2015 by Elle Kennedy, achieved unprecedented success.

Kennedy has since been hailed as the queen of “new romance,” a sub-genre that has gained popularity for including particularly explicit sex scenes. Translated into 27 languages, the “Off Campus” series has sold over 10 million copies worldwide, and its upcoming series adaptation on Prime next year is likely to boost sales even further.

What Will the First Season of Off Campus Cover?

Off Campus consists of 5 volumes – The Deal (2015), The Mistake (2015), The Score (2016), The Goal (2016), and The Legacy (2021) – each following a different couple at the fictional Briar University.

The first season of the Prime Video series will adapt the first book, following the story of Hannah, a top student who also excels in singing. She makes a deal with a member of the university’s hockey team: she helps him improve his grades, and in return, he assists her in winning over the star player of the basketball team…

If the series is successful, season two will focus on a new couple.

Who Are the Actors in Off Campus?

Prime Video has cast relatively unknown actors whose careers could skyrocket with the success of Off Campus. Notably, these two stars – Ella Bright (Holmes and Watson) and Belmont Cameli (The Alto Knights).
