The new French romantic series “Dear You” on Prime Video features a well-known personality from the popular show “Ici Tout Commence.”
France has entered the arena of young adult romantic dramas adapted from best-selling novels, a trend popularized by titles such as After, À contre-sens, Maxton Hall, The Idea of Being with You, Perfect Addiction, and Closer. Based on Emily Blaine’s novel, “Dear You” marks the country’s first foray into this widely popular genre. Available on Prime Video, the series—co-created by Niels Rahou, Aurélie Belko, Julie-Albertine Simonney, and Sébastien Le Délézir—boasts all the essential elements: romance, sensuality, friendship, misunderstandings, betrayals, existential quests, and the pressures of the digital world.
What is “Dear You” About?
“Dear You” tells the story of Alma, a young Parisian working at a luxury hotel in Paris. Juggling the sometimes outlandish demands of her high-profile guests, complicated relationships with colleagues, and her friends’ wild romantic escapades, she hardly has time to meet anyone new.
But in the city of love, anything is possible… like catching the eye of Alex, the sexy yet arrogant millionaire who has taken up residence at the hotel. Or getting closer to Naïm, the cool new bartender. Or even sexting Mr. Nobody, a mysterious contact she met on the “Dear You” app, whose real identity remains unknown to her.
Yet, Mr. Nobody might be closer than she realizes. And as Alma finds herself entangled in the secret disappearance of a guest, her life becomes truly complicated…
A Star from “Ici Tout Commence” Joins the Cast
The role of Alma, the heroine of “Dear You,” is played by Carla Poquin, who initially gained recognition under the pseudonym Poqssi. Trained at the Actors Factory, she has been active in roles across series like Skam France and Nudes, and films such as Chasse Gardée by Antoine Fourlon and Frédéric Forestier in 2022, and the upcoming La Venue de l’Avenir by Cédric Klapisch.
Among her co-stars is an actor familiar to fans of serial dramas—Terence Telle, who portrays Gaëtan Rivière in “Ici tout commence,” a role he has held since the show’s inception in 2020. This longstanding character remains a fixture in recent episodes of the series.
This former model first made a splash in the French public eye with his 2018 participation in “Dance with the Stars” alongside Fauve Hautot, finishing third in the competition. This exposure paved the way for his subsequent television roles.
He was later seen in the TV movie “Too Young for Me” by Jérémy Minui, with Hélène de Fougerolles and Arielle Dombasle, and in “At Your Side” alongside Jarry, Didier Bourdon, and Marie-Anne Chazel. Telle also starred in the historical film “The Last Queen of Tahiti” directed by Adeline Darraux, featuring Bernard Le Coq and Alexia Barlier, and has toured across France with the play “At What Price Do You Love Me?”
In “Dear You,” Terence Telle plays Naïm, the cool new bartender at the palace where Alma works. As the series unfolds, their relationship grows increasingly close… but to what extent?
“Dear You” is now streaming on Prime Video.
