When Wednesday rolls around, it’s time for a kid-friendly treat! In line with this, Paramount+ has added a delightful Ryan Reynolds film to its repertoire that’s sure to melt your heart…
This Wednesday, Paramount+ aims to delight families by introducing a new film into its collection: Blue & Company.
Directed and written by John Krasinski, known from his role in The Office, this film appeals to both young and old by reminding us that adults can still have a child-like spirit.
The plot centers around young Bea (played by Cailey Fleming), who one day discovers she can see everyone’s imaginary friends. This revelation kicks off a magical adventure to reconnect children with their forgotten imaginary companions.
A Poetic Take on Growing Up
Crafted as a clever mix of CGI and live-action—similar to films like Space Jam—Blue & Company also draws inspiration from two major family entertainment classics. A review from Télé 2 Semaines aptly notes:
“With a gentle and poetic tone, John Krasinski surprises with his inventive direction. Somewhere between Mary Poppins and Monsters, Inc., this original adventure is sure to delight both children and adults with its multi-level storytelling.”
With an audience rating of 3.4 out of 5, the film has been warmly received in France and internationally, raking in 190 million dollars. This marks a significant success for John Krasinski, who, after impressing audiences with his horror flick A Quiet Place, proves his versatility both in front of and behind the camera—and across different genres.
The inclusion of his friend Ryan Reynolds in the cast, who also co-produced the film, is likely to pique the interest of subscribers. When he’s not bringing laughs in Deadpool or leading action-packed scenes on Netflix, the Canadian actor also embraces roles in family-oriented, magical adventures like Spirited and The Adam Project.
Blue and Company, now streaming on Paramount+.
