Alan Cumming, reprising his role as Nightcrawler in “Avengers: Doomsday,” shares some surprising details about his filming experience.
While the production of “Avengers: Doomsday” is currently underway, much about the project remains shrouded in secrecy. Besides the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom and the disclosed cast, little else is known about this fifth installment.
Isolated Filming Process
British actor Alan Cumming has shed some light on his quite unexpected filming experience. Speaking to Gold Derby, Cumming, who portrayed Nightcrawler in Bryan Singer’s “X-Men 2,” explained:
“I filmed the entire movie in isolation. Lots of green screens and facial capture. They even used fake names for characters. Half the time, I didn’t know who I was acting with.“
Cumming’s comments highlight the extensive secrecy maintained with the actors and the heavy reliance on visual effects. It is still unclear whether Nightcrawler will play a significant role in the plot of this new film.
A Major Change for Alan Cumming
In another statement, this time to Variety, Cumming noted that his makeup time was reduced to one third of what it was for “X-Men 2,” going from 4.5 hours to just 1.5 hours.
In the latest news about “Avengers 5,” Ryan Reynolds recently posted a cryptic photo on his official Instagram account, hinting at the possible appearance of his character Deadpool in the Marvel blockbuster.
“Avengers: Doomsday” hits theaters on December 16, 2026.
