The Halloween season is prime time for horror flicks, but any time is a good time to dive into Stephen King’s cinematic adaptations. Let’s explore the upcoming adaptations set to hit screens in the coming months.

Stephen King’s novels have long been a goldmine for Hollywood, with numerous adaptations released each year. Among the most notable are the two parts of “It,” released in 2017 and 2019. The character of Pennywise had previously haunted a generation in an earlier adaptation back in 1990.

Split into two segments, the miniseries featured Tim Curry as the iconic monster. With the film airing this October 31st on Paris Première at 10:55 PM, it’s a perfect time to discuss the most advanced adaptation projects of the author’s work.

The Monkey – February 19, 2025

The story centers on a mechanical monkey toy, which is a source of numerous traumas for one of the two Shelburn brothers. The catch? Every time the monkey claps its cymbals, someone close to the two brothers dies.

Following the significant success in the United States of “Longlegs,” Oz Perkins, the son of Anthony Perkins who was the legendary Norman Bates in “Psycho,” is quickly back with his new feature film. “The Monkey” is set to be another major horror event.

Based on a Stephen King short story, the plot unfolds in three chapters of an ordinary man named Charles Krantz, starting with his death from a brain tumor at 39 and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.

Directed by Mike Flanagan, known for “The Haunting of Hill House” on Netflix, the film features an impressive cast including Tom Hiddleston, Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Jacob Tremblay, and Matthew Lillard. It’s set for a summer 2025 release in the United States, with the French release date still pending.
