In “One Battle After Another,” Teyana Taylor captivated global audiences despite her limited screen time. An Oscar nominee, the actress is lobbying the director to bring back her character.
Teyana Taylor is not giving up on the idea of reprising her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in Paul Thomas Anderson’s film “One Battle After Another.” The actress, who only appears in the first 40 minutes of the movie, made such an impactful impression that she secured her first Oscar nomination.
The character Perfidia Beverly Hills is a leader within the revolutionary group French 75. After having a child with Bob (played by Leonardo DiCaprio), she vanishes into thin air and never returns to the screen.
As the date of the ceremony—on the night of March 15th to 16th—draws near, the actress reveals that she is actively campaigning with the director to have her character return in a new movie.
A Potential Spin-off?
“Every now and then, I joke with Paul [Thomas Anderson],” she explained in an interview with IndieWire. “We absolutely need to see what Perfidia has been up to during these sixteen years of absence. Perfidia and Willa [played by Chase Infiniti] need scenes together.”
She continued: “When Willa walked through the door in the last scene, I wondered, ‘Where is she really going? Is she going to free Deandra? Will she find her mother?’ I love that there’s still hope, and there’s room for a sequel somewhere.”
Just as a Netflix film is soon coming out about Cliff Booth, the character played by Brad Pitt in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon A Time… in Hollywood,” could the same be possible for “One Battle After Another”?
“The conversations [with Paul Thomas Anderson] are very serious,” insists Teyana Taylor. “I want to assure everyone that I am currently begging PTA to make it happen.” Could the actress’s potential Oscar win convince the filmmaker? We’ll find out on March 16th.
