Released in 2023, “Vincent Must Die” by Stephan Castang is set to be adapted in the United States by Blumhouse, the company behind “Halloween”, “Insidious”, and “Get Out”.
Premiered at the Critics’ Week in Cannes, in 2023, Vincent Must Die by Stephan Castang caught attention for its wildly original plot. Featuring Karim Leklou, the film was even nominated for the César Award for Best Film the following year.
Today, Hollywood is taking over. Variety reports that screenwriter and director David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick will be signing on to helm an American adaptation produced by Blumhouse (Halloween, Get Out, Obsession) and Atomic Monster—the production house of James Wan, director of Conjuring and Insidious.
What’s the Film About?
In Vincent Must Die, the protagonist suddenly finds himself attacked repeatedly and inexplicably by people trying to kill him. His life as an ordinary man is turned upside down, and as the attacks escalate, he has no choice but to flee and change his way of life.
This marks David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick’s directorial debut. Until now, he was known for his screenplay work on films like Orphan, Aquaman, and the Conjuring sequels.
As of now, no details on the cast or release date have been disclosed.
