A legendary actor from the Splendid troupe, Christian Clavier is a cornerstone of French cinema, having left his mark in iconic films such as “Les Bronzés” (1978), “Les Bronzés font du ski” (1979), and “Le Père Noël est une ordure” (1982).

In 2021, he teamed up again with director Philippe de Chauveron for “Qu’est-ce qu’on a tous fait au Bon Dieu?”, the third installment of a series that began in 2014 with “Qu’est-ce qu’on a fait au Bon Dieu?”, which drew over 12 million viewers and became one of the biggest hits in the history of French cinema. The sequel, released in 2019, continued to attract a huge audience with over 6 million tickets sold.

The film airs tonight at 9 PM on TF1, providing a perfect moment to catch up on Christian Clavier’s current projects.

Comic Book Adaptations

After portraying Astérix on the big screen twice, Christian Clavier returns to voicing the famous Gaul in the new animated feature, “Astérix – The Kingdom of Nubia”, set for release on December 2, 2026. Directed by Alexandre Heboyan (Mune), with a script by Alexandre de la Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte and a budget of 30 million euros, this project also features voices of François-Xavier Demaison, Bernard Alane, and Issa Doumbia.

Clavier is also set to star in “Les Profs 3”, which began filming recently and is scheduled for release on February 10, 2027. Following the success of the first two films, which drew 4 million and 3.5 million viewers respectively, the series returns to the cinema. He reprises his role as Tirocu (played by Didier Bourdon in the second installment), the math teacher, alongside Isabelle Nanty, Pierre François Martin-Laval, Arnaud Ducret, Stéfi Celma, Fred Tousch, and Jean-Luc Couchard. Notably absent is Kev Adams, replaced by Tom Boudet as Boulard. In this new chapter, the teachers and their students find themselves amidst a Napoleonic battle during a school trip to Belgium. Pierre François Martin-Laval directs once again.

Return to Kaamelott and a New Historical Role

Christian Clavier will also revisit the world of Kaamelott, the epic saga begun on film by Alexandre Astier in July 2021. After the first installment, the sequel is divided into two parts: the first was released last October, and the second is anticipated in theatres in March 2027. It picks up where the previous one left off, with the capsizing of Arthur, Guenièvre, and Vénec’s boat. The king is expected to reunite with Kolaig, the tavern keeper, and his loyal Karadoc, held captive at the Three Fountains, before their visions lead them on the quest for the Grail. Christian Clavier reprises his role as the Jurisconsult.

Lastly, UGC has announced the upcoming production of “Avis de tempête”, a new comedy by Ludovic Bernard (10 Days Without Mom). Clavier plays André Malraux, tasked with loaning the Mona Lisa to the United States during the Cold War, alongside Elsa Zylberstein, Maxime Gasteuil, François Berléand, Stéphane de Groodt, and Sarah Stern. A December 2026 release is planned.
