Jon Bernthal Clashes with Double Oscar-Winning Actor 9 Years Ago!

Remember Baby Driver, the film directed by Edgar Wright that came out in 2017? The movie featured a stellar cast including Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Jon Hamm, Kevin Spacey, Eiza Gonzalez, Jamie Foxx, and Jon Bernthal, famously known as the Punisher.

The story follows Baby, a young driving prodigy who earns his living as a getaway driver for robbers in Atlanta, where his skills allow him to evade the police with nearly choreographed precision. Marked by an accident that upended his childhood, he suffers from tinnitus which he constantly fights off with a carefully selected soundtrack.

Under the command of Doc, the mastermind behind the heists, Baby performs job after job, hoping to pay off his debt and leave the criminal world for good. His encounter with Debora, a waitress he falls in love with, finally gives him a reason to dream of a normal life, away from guns and sirens.

However, Doc forces him into one last heist, surrounded by a team of unpredictable and dangerous criminals. When the violence spins out of control and Baby realizes no one is playing by the rules, his escape plan crumbles. Caught between his desire to protect Debora and the need to survive, he decides to turn the guns on his employers.

What follows is a dizzying chase where every turn, every gunshot, and every music track seems orchestrated. To win his freedom, Baby must face the consequences of his choices and accept that he can no longer be just a driver of stories written by others.

In a final effort, he tries to break free from the criminal world and take control of his own life. Doc, the big boss, is played by Kevin Spacey, and the latter greatly annoyed Jon Bernthal during filming.

During an interview for the Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Show on SiriusXM in November 2017, reported by the New Zealand Herald, Jon Bernthal did not hold back his thoughts on Kevin Spacey, who later faced legal troubles due to accusations of sexual assault.

“The kind of man he was, from what I saw working with him, made me lose all respect I had for him, and I was hugely disappointed,” Bernthal revealed.

“Coming onto the set and working with him, I wasn’t around much and wasn’t really in a position to judge, but when I was there, he really got on my nerves,” continued the 50-year-old actor.

I found him to be quite intimidating and even bossy. I really didn’t appreciate the way he behaved.

“I found his behavior to be quite intimidating and bossy. I really didn’t appreciate how he acted with some of the other people on the set,” he emphasized.

That same year, as Baby Driver was hitting theaters, the first accusations targeting Kevin Spacey began to surface. It all started when actor Anthony Rapp publicly accused him of making sexual advances towards him when he was just 14 years old.

Subsequent reports emerged detailing intimidating and inappropriate behavior by Spacey, casting a shadow over the man the public thought they knew. In July 2023, Spacey was nevertheless acquitted of the nine charges he faced in the United Kingdom.

Since then, the former star of Usual Suspects and American Beauty has returned to the film sets, including a role in the thriller The Awakening, directed by Matt Routledge.
