Released in 1960, “The Magnificent Seven” has ascended to the ranks of the greatest westerns. Thus, turning this iconic film into a series is a bold challenge that director Tim Kring will undertake. And we already know who will step into Steve McQueen’s shoes!

Sixty-five years ago, a western movie was etched into the hall of fame of the genre. This was John Sturges’ “The Magnificent Seven.” The film featured Yul Brynner as the leader of a group of professional gunmen, along with Charles Bronson, Horst Buchholz, Brad Dexter, Robert Vaughn, James Coburn, and notably Steve McQueen. Revered by many movie enthusiasts as a sacrosanct work, “The Magnificent Seven” is nevertheless set to be adapted into a series by Tim Kring, the creator of Heroes.

And after much anticipation, the new face of Vin Tanner has been announced as reported by the media outlet Deadline: Michael Ealy. The 52-year-old actor, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in “Sleeper Cell,” is set to take on the ambitious challenge of measuring up to the legendary Steve McQueen. In the 2016 remake directed by Antoine Fuqua, the character of Vin (renamed Joshua Faraday) was portrayed by Chris Pratt.

Will Vin Tanner Remain True to the Original Western?
