The cast continues to grow for the adaptation of Freida McFadden’s novel “The Housemaid’s Secrets,” the sequel to “The Housemaid.” The role of Douglas Garrick, the new employer of Millie (Sydney Sweeney), has been cast.
As the film adaptation of Freida McFadden’s novel “The Housemaid’s Secrets” — a direct sequel to “The Housemaid” — is set to hit theaters on December 15, 2027, the cast is expanding! Returning stars Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone reprise their roles as Millie and Enzo, respectively, and Kirsten Dunst joins as Wendy, Millie’s new boss. Additionally, actor Paul Anthony Kelly has been cast as Douglas Garrick, Wendy’s billionaire husband.
Kelly has recently made waves in the series “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette,” where he portrayed the son of the 35th President of the United States. He is also slated to appear in the upcoming thirteenth season of the anthology series “American Horror Story.” This film will mark the American actor’s first cinematic role.
Directed once again by Paul Feig from a screenplay adapted by Rebecca Sonnenshine, shooting for the feature film is scheduled for next fall.
The story unfolds a few months after the events of the previous installment. Millie lives in New York and believes she has finally found some stability working for a wealthy family, the Garricks. However, she quickly uncovers that dark secrets lie behind the immaculate walls of the New York apartment. She realizes her employers may not be who they claim to be…
Released in December 2025, “The Housemaid” was a box office phenomenon, grossing nearly $400 million worldwide and drawing 4.4 million viewers in French theaters. This remarkable success for a thriller with a modest budget of $35 million quickly inspired studios: adaptation rights for many other novels by Freida McFadden have since been acquired.
