Scheduled for release in January next year, Chris Pratt’s upcoming movie is introduced in a high-tension debut trailer.
Chris Pratt’s relationship with science fiction is a longstanding romance! First gaining major public attention with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, Pratt has since starred in multiple films within the genre (Passengers, The Tomorrow War, and more recently The Electric State) and returns with his next cinematic venture.
In this film, titled “Guilty as Charged” and directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the Ben-Hur remake), Pratt plays a man who helped establish an Artificial Intelligence court in the near future. He is accused of murdering his wife and has 90 minutes to prove his innocence to this very court or face execution.
A Blend of Minority Report and Searching
The film’s premise bears similarities to Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi masterpiece, Minority Report, starring Tom Cruise, and adopts a style reminiscent of various films produced by Timur Bekmambetov, such as Searching and the recent War of the Worlds (considered one of the worst sci-fi films of the year). These films are unique for being shot through computer interfaces and other screens, a technique prominently used again in “Guilty as Charged,” as shown in the newly released trailer and the movie’s poster, with a theatrical release set for January 28th.
Besides Chris Pratt, who reunites with Timur Bekmambetov nearly 20 years after Wanted, where Pratt had a minor role alongside Angelina Jolie, the film features Rebecca Ferguson as the AI judge who issues the ultimatum to the protagonist. The cast also includes Annabelle Wallis as his murdered wife, along with Kali Reis, Rafi Gavron, Chris Sullivan, Kenneth Choi, and Kylie Rogers.
“Guilty as Charged,” in theaters starting January 28, 2026.
