Christopher Lee’s Dream: The Legendary Director He Wanted to Work With!

In 2011, after working with many film legends, Christopher Lee revealed there was still one director he was eager to work with.

Passing away in 2015 at the age of 93, after a prolific career, Christopher Lee undeniably ranks among the greatest legends in the history of cinema. His extensive filmography includes collaborations with numerous iconic filmmakers, including Billy Wilder (The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes), Steven Spielberg (1941), Martin Scorsese (Hugo), Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings), George Lucas (the Star Wars prequels), and Tim Burton in several feature films.

“There’s Only One Director I’d Love to Work With”

Despite such a storied career, there was still one renowned director with whom the actor, famous for roles such as Saruman and Count Dooku, regretted never having the chance to work, as he expressed during a 2011 speech at University College Dublin.

“There’s only one director, today, with whom I’d love to work,” he told the audience.

“I don’t know if it will happen, it’s in God’s hands. That director is Clint Eastwood, who has become an absolutely brilliant filmmaker.”

Unfortunately, the desired collaboration between Christopher Lee and Clint Eastwood never materialized, and it remains a point of regret for fans who never got to see the legendary British actor under the direction of the equally legendary Clint Eastwood.

Eastwood, a two-time Oscar winner for Best Director (for Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby), indeed has many classics to his name, such as Gran Torino, A Perfect World, The Bridges of Madison County, and American Sniper.
