Conjuring 4 Revealed: Cast, Release Info & More on the $2.4 Billion Franchise!

“Conjuring: The Last Rites”, the latest installment in the successful horror series, will premiere in theaters in six months. Here’s an update on the fourth main series film initiated by James Wan in 2013.

The Conjuring universe is the most lucrative horror franchise globally, and it’s ready to terrify you once more! With a whopping 2.4 billion dollars in international box office earnings, the Conjuring cinematic universe has spooked millions of viewers worldwide.

Started in 2013 by director James Wan with the horror film “Conjuring: The Warren Files”, the franchise now includes 10 feature films: the four main saga films and several spin-offs focused on demonic entities (Annabelle with three films, The Nun with two films, and The Curse of La Llorona).

The fourth installment of The Conjuring is set to hit theaters on September 10, 2025. What do we know about this latest entry in the core saga?

Who is in the cast of Conjuring 4?

Titled “Conjuring: The Last Rites” in English and “The Hour of Judgment” in France, this fourth chapter is directed by Michael Chaves, who previously helmed “The Curse of La Llorona”, “Conjuring 3”, and “The Nun 2”.

This fourth film is expected to be the last of the main saga. The story unfolds after 1981 and will feature the return of the Warren couple – still portrayed by Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson – in their final investigation. They are joined by Mia Tomlinson as their daughter Judy, and Ben Hardy playing her boyfriend. The rest of the cast remains under wraps.

To celebrate the last day of filming “The Hour of Judgment”, Vera Farmiga shared a photo on her Instagram last November of herself and Patrick Wilson in wedding attire, accompanied by the following message.

“About 5000 days ago, this guy and I signed a contract with Warner Bros and said ‘yes’ to playing Ed and Lorraine Warren. Today, it ends. I still have 12 hours of laughter and madness with him and then suddenly, he will leave the set, remove his sweat-soaked demonologist attire, take off his scars, flash his dazzling smile and say goodbye to our faux marriage. Yes… I had those feelings today. It was a perfect marriage, PWilz. What a time. To our 12 years of marriage. I cherish you.”

A post that confirms that this fourth installment will indeed be the last.

As of writing this article, no official images have been released except for these behind-the-scenes photos.

What is Conjuring 4 about?

The plot remains a secret, but the post-credit scene from “The Nun 2” hinted that the demon Valak might return. “The Conjuring: The Hour of Judgment” should thus conclude connecting the various films of the universe. Like its predecessors, the feature film is expected to be inspired by one of the actual cases investigated by the Warrens.

Warning, the rest of this article contains spoilers about The Nun 2.

The events recounted in “The Nun: The Curse of Saint Lucia” take place in 1956. Chronologically, this film is set between Annabelle 2 and Annabelle, and 15 years before “Conjuring: The Warren Files”.

In the post-credit scene of The Nun 2, Ed and Lorraine Warren receive a call from Father Gordon (Steve Coulter). Their daughter, Judy, answers the phone and tells them that the father is calling them for an emergency, the nature of which is not specified.

At first glance, viewers might think it’s a simple flashback setting up the Warrens’ exorcism of Maurice (Jonas Bloquet in The Nun 2), still possessed by Valak in the 70s. However, the more observant will notice that Judy is a teenager here, whereas she was still a child in 1971. This scene thus occurs after Maurice’s exorcism. The call from Father Gordon must surely concern the return of Valak. The Warrens should thus face the terrifying demon disguised as a nun for a “last rite”.

The Farmiga Sisters in Cast of Conjuring 4?

“Conjuring: The Last Rites” could thus link the spin-off films “The Nun” and the main saga and allow Sister Irene, played by Taissa Farmiga, and Lorraine Warren, portrayed by her real-life sister Vera Farmiga, to meet. It’s likely no coincidence that these two actresses were chosen as the heroines of these films.

The second installment of The Nun reveals that Sister Irene Palmer (Taissa Farmiga) is a descendant of Saint Lucia, a martyr whose eyes were gouged out and have become a sought-after holy relic by the fallen angel Valak. This connection explains her ability to have visions, a gift she shares with Lorraine Warren…

The film also suggests that Lorraine and Irene come from the same lineage. It is therefore highly likely that the two actresses will reunite in the final film of this lucrative saga.

“Conjuring: The Hour of Judgment” opens in our theaters on September 10, 2025.
