Hot off the heels of his latest release, “Megalopolis,” Francis Ford Coppola is set to begin production on a new feature film in 2025, titled “Glimpses Of The Moon,” to be shot in London.
2024 has been a significant year for Francis Ford Coppola, marking his grand return to the film industry. He competed at the Cannes Film Festival in May, and then promoted “Megalopolis” globally, drawing over 250,000 viewers in France alone. This project was a labor of love for Coppola, consuming nearly two decades of his life and a substantial amount of his personal finances. Despite the hefty investment, the film did not achieve the expected financial success.
Nevertheless, Coppola is eager to get back on set. According to the Washington Post, he has already lined up two new projects. A recent tweet revealed that his next film, “Glimpses Of The Moon,” described as a “strange 30s-style musical,” is scheduled to begin shooting early in 2025.
This project is nearly ready to begin filming, with plans to set up in London after the Christmas holidays. While the cast has yet to be announced, the film is said to feature a distinctive 1930s ambiance and will include musical elements.
A Musical Comedy in the Spirit of “One from the Heart”
“Glimpses of the Moon” is based on the novel by Edith Wharton, which previously inspired the film “The Awful Truth” by Leo McCarey. This new adaptation is expected to include several dance and musical sequences, reminiscent of another of Coppola’s films, “One from the Heart.”
Following “Glimpses of the Moon,” Coppola is likely to proceed with another ambitious project titled “Distant Vision.”
