First Look: Luc Besson’s Dracula Unveiled in Epic Trailer of France’s Biggest Film of the Year!

Following “Dogman” and “June and John,” Luc Besson is back with a new take on the Dracula legend. Check out the movie’s trailer.

After his 2023 film “Dogman” and the low-key release of “June and John” during the pandemic, Luc Besson returns to tackle one of literature’s greatest classics: Dracula. With a budget of 45 million euros, this represents the biggest French film of 2025, surpassing “Chien 51,” another ambitious project by Cédric Jimenez.

In this reinterpretation of the myth, Luc Besson reunites with Caleb Landry Jones, who won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival for “Nitram” in 2021. The two previously collaborated on “Dogman.”

The cast also includes Christoph Waltz (“Inglorious Bastards”), Zoë Bleu, daughter of actress Rosanna Arquette, Matilda de Angelis (“The Undoing”), Ewens Abid, and Guillaume de Tonquédec.

From the first glimpses, the gothic aspect appears to be a prominent feature in this new adaptation, sharing many similarities with Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula. This inspiration, however, has not been officially acknowledged by the French director yet.

The storyline of this new film unfolds as follows: “In the 15th century, Prince Vladimir renounces God after the sudden and brutal loss of his wife. He then inherits a curse: eternal life. He becomes Dracula. Doomed to wander through the centuries, he now has only one hope: to find his lost love.
