Tonight, Canal+ is airing Robert Eggers’ latest film, “Nosferatu”. This presents a perfect moment to explore some of the most iconic vampire movies of recent decades through this quiz, featuring nine bloodsuckers for you to identify!
Since the late 19th century, specifically in 1896, the vampire legend began its cinematic journey under the direction of Georges Méliès with a two-minute film, considered one of the first horror films ever: “Le Manoir du diable”.
About thirty years later, Friedrich Murnau created what would become a genre classic with “Nosferatu”, featuring the unforgettable Max Schreck as the title character.
Since then, numerous directors have offered their take on the Dracula myth, from Francis Ford Coppola to Robert Eggers, and including Luc Besson whose upcoming movie, “Dracula”, is set for release on July 30th.

Lily-Rose Depp replaces Anya Taylor-Joy
Initially, Robert Eggers planned to cast Harry Styles and Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead roles, but due to their busy schedules, they were unable to join the project. Consequently, Lily-Rose Depp was chosen to portray Ellen Hutter.
Willem against the vampires
“Nosferatu” marks the third collaboration between Willem Dafoe and director Robert Eggers, following “The Lighthouse” and “The Northman”. In this film, the actor takes on the role of Professor Van Helsing, portraying a “mad vampire hunter” named Albin Eberhard von Franz.
Interestingly, Willem Dafoe is no stranger to the world of “Nosferatu” as he previously portrayed Max Schreck, the actor who played the monster in the original movie, in the 2000 “film about the film” titled “Shadow of the Vampire”, centered on the making of the 1922 classic. Here’s the trailer:
