While the profilers of “Criminal Minds” chase psychopaths across the U.S., off-screen, thankfully, things are much calmer. There’s even romance blooming between two cast members…
Onscreen, they portray chilling and violent characters, but away from the cameras, these two actors have grown close and are now a real-life couple. According to the American website US Weekly, Zach Gilford and Liana Liberato, both featured in “Criminal Minds: Evolution,” are together in real life.
Gilford plays Elias Voit, the main antagonist in “Criminal Minds: Evolution,” the continuation of “Criminal Minds,” which was cancelled in 2020. For three seasons, this family man, a security analyst by day, has led a network of serial killers he organized following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Liberato, on the other hand, played Jade Waters in season 2, a member of the Golden Star, a militia group that was tortured and brainwashed in their childhood to become mercenaries for a cult led by someone named Frank Church.
The romance between the two actors, who were spotted together at an event organized by People and InStyle, was confirmed by one of their spokespeople: “They started seeing each other after working together”. This isn’t the first time Gilford has dated a colleague, as he was previously married to Kiele Sanchez, who plays Voit’s wife.
The actor, who filed for divorce in 2025 after twelve years of marriage, admitted in 2024 that he found it challenging to work with his then-wife on such a dark series, where his character mistreated hers: “there’s a certain tension on set when you’re colleagues and married. It’s kind of like walking a tightrope.”
First gaining fame in 2006 with “Friday Night Lights,” Zach Gilford has since been featured in “Good Girls,” “Midnight Mass,” and “The Fall of the House of Usher.” Liana Liberato has been seen in “Scream VI” and “Totally Killer.”
