People magazine recently released its annual “Sexiest Man of the Year” issue. While Jonathan Bailey grabbed this year’s top spot, the magazine also featured reunions of iconic male duos from television shows, including Zach Gilford and Scott Porter from Friday Night Lights, Jared Padalecki and Matt Czuchry from Gilmore Girls, Zach Braff and Donald Faison from Scrubs, and James Lafferty and Chad Michael Murray from One Tree Hill.

Thirteen years after the series finale that made them stars, the actors who portrayed Nathan and Lucas looked back on their memories, especially their hairstyles! During season 5, Nathan, a top basketball player, ends up in a wheelchair following a bar fight. He turns to alcohol and lets his hair and beard grow out.

James Lafferty recalls, “I had to cut my hair because they needed my character to have long hair, but there were also flashbacks. So, they had to glue extensions in. I had this massive lion’s mane, and they took the hair they cut off and chopped it into smaller pieces which they glued to my face every day for several episodes.”

“It took hours, and it was also during the summer, so it was incredibly itchy,” he concluded, to the amusement of Chad Michael Murray, who admitted he went through “many hair adventures. There are a lot of embarrassing moments.” Notably, he bleached his hair in season 4 after losing a bet.
