The films, beloved as they are, often had to trim subplots, characters, and finer details to fit within a limited runtime. This series, with its longer format, could reintroduce elements from the books that never made it to the big screen, like S.P.E.W., Peeves the Poltergeist, or the full backstory of the Marauders.

While the idea of a faithful adaptation excites fans, it’s a bold move for Warner Bros. and HBO. Producing a sprawling series on this scale comes with its own set of challenges, not least the financial investment.
