If You Love “The Bureau”, Check Out “Mata” – A French Spy Thriller with Eye Haïdara!

The trailer for “MATA,” a spy film directed by Rachel Lang and featuring Eye Haïdara, Joséphine Japy, and Raphaël Personnaz, has just been released. The movie will hit theaters on May 27.

Actress Eye Haïdara will host the 79th Cannes Film Festival, but will soon swap her evening gown for something far more practical: the attire of a DGSE action service agent.

In MATA, she plays an agent scarred by a botched clandestine mission in Niger during which she lost track of Antoine, her partner who was captured there. Upon her return to France, she is assigned to the Domestic Security Department and takes on a counter-espionage mission in the Alps: a shadow seems to connect this case to the ambush in Africa. Convinced that her superiors are withholding information and haunted by Antoine’s captivity, she embarks on a race against time, outside any official framework… risking everything.

Written and directed by Rachel Lang, who previously gained attention with “Baden Baden” and “Mon légionnaire,” the film also stars Raphaël Personnaz, Joséphine Japy, Hakim Jemili, Chloé Jouannet, Juliette Chaigneau, Aleksandr Kuznetsov, Pierre-Antoine Billon, and Mélanie Laurent.

Following in the footsteps of the successful series “Le Bureau des Légendes,” MATA promises a tense dive into the heart of French intelligence services. Moreover, the film portrays a woman ready to cross all lines to save her friend, even if it means confronting the murky areas of state reasons.

MATA is set to premiere in theaters on May 27.
