Jean-Pascal Zadi, who brought laughter across France with “Simply Black” in 2020, is back on both sides of the camera for a new film. Check out the trailer!
Over the past few years, Jean-Pascal Zadi has emerged as a key figure in French comedy. Just last year, he appeared in five films, and in 2025, he has already been seen in a dual role in “Prosper” as well as hosting the César Awards. He will soon return with his latest directorial venture: “The Great Displacement.”
Set to hit theaters on June 25 and originally titled “The Space Mission,” this comedy will depict the first African space mission. Comprised of members from the continent and its diaspora, the crew is tasked with exploring a new planet to determine if it could serve as a new home for Africans should Earth become uninhabitable.
This classic science fiction premise is given a fresh twist with Zadi’s signature humor, as shown in the recently released trailer by Gaumont. Moreover, the greatest uncertainty in such long interstellar journeys is the crew’s harmony, and here too, “The Great Displacement” promises plenty of comedic moments.
A Reunion Filled with Familiar Faces
For the cast, Jean-Pascal Zadi has brought together many actors he has previously worked with, including from his series “In Place” or his former film “Simply Black,” such as Fadily Camara, Fary, Jean-Claude Muaka, Claudia Tagbo, and Eric Judor, who will lend his voice to the film. Reda Kateb, Lous And The Yakuza, Déborah Lukumuena, and Alassane Diong round out the cast.
While waiting to venture into space with this impressive ensemble, audiences can hear Jean-Pascal Zadi’s voice in another highly anticipated production: Alain Chabat’s Netflix series “Asterix & Obelix: The Battle of the Chiefs,” premiering April 30, and here’s the trailer:
