Initially dropped by Warner Bros., the Looney Tunes movie “Coyote vs. Acme” will now hit theaters thanks to a new distributor. What about its release in France?
The film industry can be brutal at times. This was the case when Coyote vs Acme, a fully finished Looney Tunes movie, was suddenly canceled by Warner Bros. The reason? Canceling the release allowed them to cut their taxes and save $30 million – the film’s budget was $70 million.
Other projects were also axed, including Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah’s Batgirl and the sequel to Scoob!, titled Scoob! Holiday Haunt. However, hope should never be lost. More than a year after its cancellation, Deadline reports that Coyote vs Acme is set to be released in theaters soon thanks to independent distributor Ketchup Entertainment. This American company recently brought Daffy and Porky Save the World to theaters in the United States.
Positive Feedback
This news finally ends a long period of distress for the entire film team whose work was unjustly overlooked. Featuring, among others, John Cena, Coyote vs. Acme had been shown at various test screenings and the feedback was positive, with some calling it the “best version of Looney Tunes on the big screen“.
On social media, filmmakers like Christopher Miller – known for The Lego Movie – commented: “I saw Coyote vs. Acme and it’s fantastic. Funny, charming, great comedic timing, with a lot of heart. I hope multiple studios pursue it so the world can see all the great work done.”
What is Coyote vs Acme About?
Directed by Dave Green, will Coyote vs Acme be released in France? While no official information has confirmed its release, it’s highly probable that the film could be acquired by Le Pacte, which distributed Daffy and Porky Save the World in France.
In Coyote vs Acme, “an unlucky human lawyer takes on Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote as a client. Coyote wants to sue ACME for their faulty products. The lawyer soon discovers that his former boss represents the company.”
