Kristen Stewart in a stoner comedy? After a string of arthouse films, the actress switches gears and has announced the release date for “The Wrong Girls,” directed by her partner Dylan Meyer. The release date has just been revealed.

While she will be at Cannes for Quentin Dupieux’s comedy “Full Phil,” which has been selected for the official competition, Kristen Stewart has just revealed the release date for another comedy!

“The Wrong Girls,” directed by Dylan Meyer, who is Kristen Stewart’s partner, is set to hit American theaters on August 14th. Stewart also co-wrote the film with Meyer and is involved in its production.

Stewart stars alongside Alia Shawkat, Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani, and LaKeith Stanfield.

The film follows Frankie and Molly, two best friends who live day-by-day. However, their lives spiral into chaos after a case of mistaken identity.

After working on more niche projects, Kristen Stewart returns to comedy with this female-led stoner movie—a film genre often centered around marijuana use, which rarely features female leads.

To announce the movie, the two actresses appear in a deliberately absurd video, in which they struggle to remember what they are supposed to announce.

The message ultimately gets across: “The Wrong Girls” will be released in theaters on August 14, 2026. This marks an unexpected turn for an actress who has recently been more accustomed to arthouse films.

Kristen Stewart’s Upcoming Projects

Next May, Kristen Stewart will return to Cannes to present the new film by Quentin Dupieux, where she co-stars with Woody Harrelson and Charlotte Le Bon.

“Full Phil” takes place in Paris: Philip Doom, a wealthy American industrialist, tries to reconnect with his daughter Madeleine. Unfortunately, French cuisine, a 1950s horror movie, and an intrusive hotel employee disrupt his plans.

The actress will then star alongside Wagner Moura and Elizabeth Olsen in Panos Cosmatos’s vampire film “Flesh of the Gods.”

Set in the flashy Los Angeles of the 80s, Raoul and Alex descend each night from their luxurious high-rise apartment to a subterranean realm ruled by hedonism and violence.

Kristen Stewart is also expected to star in the title role of “Sontag,” a biopic dedicated to novelist and activist Susan Sontag, to be directed by Kirsten Johnson.
