Cate Blanchett to star in a biopic! Having previously portrayed Katherine Hepburn in “Aviator” and a version of Bob Dylan in “I’m not there,” Blanchett will once again transform into a real-life personality.
She will specifically take on the role of Martha Stewart, a true American icon and the first self-made female billionaire in the United States.
This news comes from Variety, which recently spoke with Martha Stewart herself on a red carpet.
During the 1990s and early 2000s, Martha Stewart became a media mogul, especially in the lifestyle sector. Author of numerous best-sellers, she also hosted the Emmy Award-winning show “Martha Stewart Living”.
Following her company’s IPO, she became the first self-made female billionaire in the U.S.
Martha Stewart is also noted for her legal troubles with her company, as Variety pointed out.
The screenplay for this biopic will be penned by Ricky Tollman. The production will be led by Cate Blanchett and Coco Francini, along with Randy Manis and Neil Dodson. Janicza Bravo will direct the film, titled “Good Thing,” referencing Martha Stewart’s famous phrase “It’s a good thing”.
The release date for the film has not yet been announced.
