Margot Robbie Confused Why Her Recent Film Flopped – Here’s Why People Hated It!

Australian actress Margot Robbie recently expressed her bewilderment over the failure of the feature film “Babylon,” in which she co-starred with Brad Pitt.

Margot Robbie is puzzled. The Australian actress, who achieved tremendous success with “Barbie,” faced a significant failure with Damien Chazelle’s “Babylon,” and she can’t fathom why it didn’t resonate with audiences.

With a lavish budget of $80 million, “Babylon,” a dazzling epic about the early days of Hollywood featuring Margot Robbie alongside Brad Pitt, only managed to garner $63 million globally after its theatrical run (including a mere $15 million at the American box office!). This was undeniably a disastrous performance.

“I don’t get it. I know I’m biased because I was involved in the project, but I still can’t understand why people hated the movie,” Robbie stated in the podcast “The Talking Pictures.”

“I wonder if in 20 years, people will say ‘What? Babylon didn’t do well when it was released?’ like how you hear that ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ was a flop at the box office. Today, you think ‘How is that possible?'”

A Flop in the U.S… But a Hit in France!

Margot Robbie, whose upcoming film has sparked controversy, also discussed her experience working with Damien Chazelle, the director of the not-so-beloved “Babylon” and also known for the musical “La La Land.”

“He is so meticulous,” the actress noted. “You know why I loved working with him? He always wanted us to give our all. He always wanted more. Even before filming, during the preparation.”

Thus, the ambition and passion of Damien Chazelle were not enough to make “Babylon” a success, much to Margot Robbie’s disappointment. However, it’s worth noting that this over-three-hour saga did very well in France, attracting 1.5 million viewers!
