Wagner Moura is set to join Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper in the prequel to the “Ocean’s 11” heist series. The Brazilian actor is expected to play the main antagonist in the film.
After winning the Best Actor Award at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival for his role in Kleber Mendonça Filho’s “The Secret Agent” (for which he was also Oscar-nominated), Brazilian actor Wagner Moura is gearing up to join a major project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is in talks to star alongside Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper in the prequel to the “Ocean’s Eleven” saga.
Filming This Summer in France
This feature film, set several decades before the adventures of Danny Ocean, portrayed by George Clooney, will be directed by Bradley Cooper. He will also produce it alongside Margot Robbie. Filming is scheduled to begin in July in Paris and the south of France. The plot will take place during the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix and will follow Danny Ocean’s parents. Also reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Wagner Moura is expected to play the main antagonist of the story.
A Long-Awaited Project
Announced several years ago as a remake of Lewis Milestone’s 1960 film, “Ocean’s Eleven,” the project was initially supposed to be directed by Jay Roach, with Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie in the lead roles. The trilogy directed by Steven Soderbergh, starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon, grossed over $1.1 billion at the global box office. In 2018, the female spin-off “Ocean’s 8,” centered on Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock), Danny’s sister, brought in nearly $300 million in global earnings.
It’s worth noting that in October last year, George Clooney revealed that a fourth installment of the “Ocean’s” saga was in the works. The project, which could be directed by David Leitch, has reportedly already received budget approval from Warner Bros.
