The first season of “NCIS: Origins” has wrapped up in the United States. Earlier episodes revealed that Gibbs has developed feelings for another woman following his wife’s death. Will they become a couple? Unfortunately, it’s still uncertain…
The 2024/2025 American TV season saw the debut of NCIS: Origins, a spin-off of NCIS that explores the early days of Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell). During its inaugural season, two major secrets about the character’s troubled past were unveiled to the audience.
Gibbs’ Romantic Past Uncovered
Initially, viewers learned how Gibbs avenged the murder of his wife and daughter: the special agent tracked down and eliminated the mastermind behind the killings! But that’s not all… As the season progressed, it was also revealed that our hero had fallen for another woman, never before mentioned in NCIS.
This woman, Cecilia Dominguez, also known as Lala, worked alongside Gibbs and was present when he executed his plan to kill his lifelong enemy. To prevent the situation from escalating, Lala consults with a lieutenant from the military police to confess everything!
The officer, Lara Marcy, decides to overlook the incident. Lala is relieved not only to have saved Gibbs, who acted outside of protocol, but also herself! Feeling unburdened and increasingly close to him, she rushes to reunite with him, possibly for more than just camaraderie.
Gibbs and Lala: A Couple in Season 2?
Tragically, Lala is then involved in a severe car accident! At the end of season 1 of NCIS: Origins, it remains unknown if she survived and whether she and Gibbs (formerly played by Mark Harmon) will have the chance to explore a significant romantic relationship after the terrible tragedy he experienced.
In an interview, Mariel Molino, who plays Lala, commented on these dramatic events: “The most heartbreaking thing is that Lala might never get to say ‘I love you’ to Gibbs… She was trying to say it when she went to see him. I think she finally managed to let go because she came so close to losing the person she now realizes she truly loves.“
Will she survive the crash? If so, will she confess her feelings to Gibbs? And most importantly, how will he react? Stay tuned for season 2 of NCIS: Origins, coming in several months in the United States.
