Ducky Returns in “NCIS: Origins”

However, our hero is not portrayed by the actor who embodied him for nearly two decades: Mark Harmon (the original performer of the character) only serves as a narrator and producer this time around, staying behind the camera. The younger Gibbs is played by Austin Stowell.

Season 2 of “NCIS: Origins” kicks off on Tuesday, October 14th in the United States. Preliminary details about the upcoming plot twists are already circulating! In a statement, the co-showrunners of the NCIS spin-off even reveal that a legendary member of the secret organization is set to return from the dead… or almost!

Exploring the Past of “NCIS” Heroes

Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North have told fans of the series that it is none other than Ducky who will be gracing our screens again, in a younger version, of course, from his early days at NCIS. They explain: “We wanted to create this episode as a tribute to our dear friend David McCallum.”

“He has been a beloved member of the NCIS family for many years, and we are incredibly fortunate to have the talented Adam Campbell back to bring to life the younger version of this iconic character (…) We are all very excited and eager for fans to see it!“

David McCallum, the actor who first brought Ducky to life on NCIS, passed away in September 2023. After several tributes in the main series, audiences this time will have the chance to see the quirky character in his early days, alongside Gibbs in “NCIS: Origins.”

In the past, Adam Campbell has stepped into the role of a younger Ducky several times. He has appeared in no fewer than four episodes of NCIS! Hence, his face might already be familiar to viewers.
