You can catch him on September 20 in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s new movie. Inarritu, known for films like “Babel”, “Birdman”, and “The Revenant”, directs “Digger”, a film about the world’s most powerful man embarking on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he triggered wipes everything out.

With such a compelling premise, and considering that Inarritu’s direction helped Leonardo DiCaprio finally win the Oscar for Best Actor with “The Revenant”, one might wonder if 2027 could also be the year Tom Cruise wins his first Oscar, aside from last year’s honorary award.

Soon Returning in Top Gun 3

Another exciting project in the pipeline is the return of the “Top Gun” franchise with a third installment. Last April, producer Jerry Bruckheimer took advantage of a panel at CinemaCon, a global convention of cinema owners held in Las Vegas, to officially announce that “Top Gun 3” was in the works and that Tom Cruise would reprise his role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, likely piloting fighter jets once again.
