Undoubtedly, it’s one of the most heart-wrenching scenes in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War, after securing all 6 Infinity Stones and embedding them into his gauntlet, the Titan Thanos executes his catastrophic plan with a snap of his fingers.

“I wanted that shocked and desperate look”

As the survivors and audience members watched in stunned silence, half of the heroes in the film disintegrated into dust. This tragic and shocking sequence not only had moviegoers reaching for tissues but also proved to be an emotionally challenging moment for the film’s actors.

Robert Downey Jr., who played the unforgettable Iron Man, recently described how emotionally taxing it was for him to film the scene, especially the disappearance of Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, who vanished in his arms.

“I wanted that shocked and desperate look”, he revealed in an interview with CBR.

“Holland was on fire”

“By that point, Tom Holland was somewhat of a veteran. What was it, his third Marvel film? He had already nailed it. He wondered if he could bring that intensity or not. And he absolutely broke our hearts.”

And director Joe Russo confirmed: “I was crying behind my monitor.”
