Netflix and BBC have greenlit a two-season sequel for “Peaky Blinders,” set to follow the upcoming film!
In an unexpected reveal, “Peaky Blinders” isn’t ending with the release of its movie, “The Immortal Man: A Peaky Blinders Film.” Netflix and BBC have just announced two additional seasons for a new series aimed at extending the saga beyond the big screen. This news was confirmed by the series’ official account on X:
“The Shelby family is making a comeback. A new era, a new generation, a new story. A new series. With the Shelby family at its blood-soaked core.”
This new series, envisioned by Steven Knight, will be set in 1953 in a Birmingham that is rebuilding after World War II. It will feature a new generation of Shelbys amid social reinvention, power struggles, and looming danger, according to Variety.
The cast is currently under wraps, but Cillian Murphy, the star of the original series, is involved in the project as an executive producer.
A New Era
“After being heavily bombed during World War II, Birmingham is constructing a brighter future with concrete and steel,” the series synopsis states. “In the new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to take over Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project turns into a brutal competition of almost mythical proportions. It’s a city that presents unprecedented opportunities and dangers, with the Shelby family at its blood-soaked heart.”
“I am thrilled to announce this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story,” Steven Knight said in a statement. “Once again, the action takes place in Birmingham, telling the story of a city reborn from the ashes of the bombings. The new generation of Shelbys is in charge, and it’s going to be quite the adventure.”
Each of the two new seasons will feature six 60-minute episodes.
More Peaky Blinders to Come
Fans won’t have to wait long to see more of the Peaky Blinders, as the film is set to premiere in early 2026. This feature film will pick up where the series left off, with Cillian Murphy returning one last time as the lead, alongside a cast that includes Stephen Graham, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Barry Keoghan.
With this unexpected renewal, the Peaky Blinders franchise is expanding. Not content with just a final film, it’s projecting into a broader future. The goal is clear: to captivate longtime fans while also opening doors to a new audience through a wider, more societal narrative. It remains to be seen if the audience will respond.
