Tom Holland’s Busy Schedule and Exciting New Collaboration
Scheduled to appear in “The Odyssey” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” this July, Tom Holland has announced his plans for a new film project with Danish director Thomas Vinterberg (“Festen”, “Another Round”), who previously directed him in a commercial a few months ago.
It’s been three years since Tom Holland graced our screens, following his role in the 2023 series “The Crowded Room.” After openly expressing a desire to slow down, the British actor is making a comeback. July will be a particularly busy month for him, featuring a role in Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of “The Odyssey” and a return to his beloved character in the fourth standalone Spider-Man movie, “Brand New Day.”
What’s next? The Fred Astaire biopic directed by Paul King (“Paddington”, “Wonka”) is set to start filming early next year. During a promotional stop in Amsterdam for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” Holland discussed another upcoming project with a well-known director celebrated at Cannes and an Oscar-winner: “I love Thomas Vinterberg,” he told Kino DK. “We are working on a project together, and it’s very exciting. I’m really looking forward to working with him on a feature-length film, but it’s too early to reveal any details.”
It seems that Holland’s reputation as a serial spoiler has passed, but you might wonder why he refers to the film as a “feature-length” project. The reason is simple: he has already acted under Vinterberg’s direction less than a year ago for a Prada commercial.
In the two-minute ad, Holland confronts images of his younger self, with several scenes reminiscent of “Another Round,” which won Vinterberg the Oscar for Best International Feature Film in 2021. Given that the characters are older, their joint project is unlikely to be the long-discussed American remake of “Another Round” that Chris Rock is supposed to direct. However, the details of their collaboration remain highly anticipated.
