Viewer Opinions

Should I Watch It? (5/5): “This film is simply a gem! We see one of the stalwarts of French cinema, Jean-Pierre Bacri, playing perfectly this man who has become bitter with life. The humor in this movie is actually based on the misfortunes that befall him. Everything crumbles around him and it is delightful. The cast is impressive. With Gilles Lellouche as the tacky DJ and Jean-Paul Rouve as the greedy photographer, and not forgetting Alban Ivanov, who isn’t seen much but every time is hilariously sad. A real treat. As usual in such films, Jean-Pierre Bacri reserves an emotional finale that involves a general reassessment. The elements blend perfectly. For me, ‘C’est la vie!’ was one of the best films of 2017.

Pog1970 (5/5): “In these times of cinema industrialization, making a film that is funny, sensitive, rhythmic, poetic, and funny 🙂 is nothing short of a miracle! A gallery of characters as caricatured as they are authentic with Bacri orchestrating this human comedy, it’s truly a moment of happiness.

Rocky6 (5/5): “What a fantastic film!! It has it all: a dream cast (Bacri, Lellouche, Rouve…), perfectly crafted dialogues, funny or touching situations, numerous twists, all set in a magnificent decor. The organization of this wedding party is perfectly depicted, revealing the behind-the-scenes and the myriad details to manage. Jean-Pierre Bacri, leading the group, is exceptional. Lellouche, as the self-assured DJ, nails his role, and Rouve as the freeloading photographer is hilarious. In short, an excellent comedy to watch and rewatch without moderation.

Mazou31 (5/5): “The comedy of the year, if not more. On a commonplace framework (a posh wedding experienced by the catering team), one is propelled into a staccato of very funny and refined gags, never vulgar, with savory dialogues that one would only wish to memorize, all at a pace with no dead time—extremely rare in a comedy—and in an atmosphere of beneficial joy. It’s well observed but never mean, that too is extremely rare nowadays where silly mockery is mistaken for talent! One even rejoices in the prevailing solidarity and generosity. And to top it off, a Jean-Pierre Bacri at the peak of his talent, superbly supported by very good supporting roles. A real comedy delight!

Mac Murphy (5/5): “Possibly the best French comedy of the last decade. Bacri is better than ever and he is wonderfully supported! No dull moments in this film as refined as it is exhilarating. Already a classic!
