The trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s “Caught Stealing” has just been released! Featuring Austin Butler, Zoë Kravitz, and Matt Smith, the film hits theaters on August 27.
Just a month after the re-release of his impactful film “Requiem for a Dream,” American director Darren Aronofsky has unveiled the trailer for his new movie, “Caught Stealing,” scheduled for release on August 27.
Starring Austin Butler, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, Bad Bunny, Regina King, Liev Schreiber, and Vincent D’Onofrio, the feature is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Charlie Huston, who also wrote the screenplay. This urban thriller kicks off a trilogy focused on the character Hank Thompson. In true Aronofsky style, the film depicts the protagonist’s harrowing downfall.
“Caught Stealing” follows Hank Thompson (Butler), a former baseball player who descends into the criminal underworld of 1990s New York City. The newly released footage promises a film filled with intense action and dark humor.
Two years after “The Whale,” Darren Aronofsky returns with a noir film that echoes his own experiences in late 1990s New York, as he recently shared in Vanity Fair: “This film is full of eccentrics. It’s a bit of my experience and that’s why I love the East Village so much. It’s still a magnet for that even today. I tried to create a genre film with the world’s best actors, the best team, and to bring it to life with the kind of energy I felt in 1998.”
He added with a touch of irony: “Everyone thinks the East Village belongs to them. And it’s funny, because I think the East Village belongs to me. I’ve been going there since high school. I was a kid from Brooklyn, and it was the coolest place in the world, partly because it was the only place that served minors at the time. We always went to the East Village and got into trouble.”
“Caught Stealing” debuts in theaters on August 27. Prior to this, Austin Butler will star in Ari Aster’s new film “Eddington,” which will be competing at the Cannes Film Festival.
