What Happened to Daniel Feuerriegel, the Gladiator Agron, After ‘Spartacus’ Ended 13 Years Ago?

Best known for his role as Agron in the series “Spartacus,” Australian actor Daniel Feuerriegel has had a varied career since the show ended 13 years ago. Here’s the latest on what he’s been up to!

While the legendary Spartacus was undoubtedly the centerpiece of the historical series named after him, which aired from 2010 to 2013, the hero was supported by a cast of fellow gladiators who joined his revolt against the Roman Empire. Among them were the formidable Crixus, Gannicus, and Agron, his most faithful allies. Today, we turn our focus to Daniel Feuerriegel, the actor behind Agron.

An Australian like most of the “Spartacus” cast, Daniel Feuerriegel mostly acted in his home country before landing his role in the series created by Steven S. DeKnight. Although he later appeared in several international productions, his career took a while to take off.

Limited Opportunities Post-Spartacus

After his portrayal of the impulsive Agron, Feuerriegel appeared in a low-budget British horror-comedy, “Cryptic” (2014), and guest-starred in episodes of American TV series such as “Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (2015), “Chicago Fire” (2017), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (2018), “Pandora” (2019), and the lesser-known “Travel Boobs” (2016) and “Pretty Vacant” (same year).

In the film industry, he was involved in the under-the-radar adaptation of the children’s literature classic “Heidi: Queen of the Mountain” (2017) and made a brief appearance in the blockbuster “Pacific Rim Uprising” (2018), directed by none other than the creator of “Spartacus”!

A New Chapter in His Career

It wasn’t until 2021 that Daniel Feuerriegel landed a significant TV role again, playing EJ DiMera in the soap opera “Days of Our Lives.” The character, son of the mobster Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo), was first introduced in 1997 as a child and has been portrayed by several actors since, with James Scott being the most notable from 2006 to 2014.

For the past five years, the former gladiator has been portraying this charismatic anti-hero. With over 500 episodes under his belt, it’s clear that “Days of Our Lives” will keep Feuerriegel busy for the foreseeable future!
