The burning question on everyone’s mind for weeks has not been whether MobLand will be renewed for a third season, but rather if Tom Hardy will be part of this new season. Thanks to its record-breaking viewership on Paramount+, the crime series is looking to extend beyond its second season, which has just started airing on the platform.

Did Tensions Lead to Tom Hardy’s Dismissal?

However, a media saga has cast doubt not on the future of the show, but on the involvement of its leading actor, Tom Hardy, in future seasons. Alleged tensions with showrunner Jez Butterworth and diva-like behavior on set were rumored to be the reasons behind the English actor’s dismissal.

However, Tom Hardy fans can breathe a sigh of relief: these were just rumors. Real tensions did indeed flare up between him and the creator of MobLand, but discussions have since resolved these issues. It’s also worth noting that the English actor received support from his co-stars, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, during the premiere of season 2.

The Next Yellowstone for Paramount?

“This storm in a teacup”, as the former 007 actor puts it, thus did not affect Tom Hardy’s continued presence in the series, which he will indeed be a part of in season 3. And if the ratings of the first season are anything to go by (the best launch ever for a new series on Paramount+, a record later broken by Dutton Ranch), more seasons are likely to follow.

The third season does not yet have a filming date, and a release as early as 2027 seems unlikely. However, fans of the series can still enjoy new episodes (ten in total) of Mobland’s second season, exclusively on Paramount+ each week.
