Zendaya Takes a Career Break

From Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” where she plays Athena, to “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” as MJ Watson, to “The Drama” alongside Robert Pattinson, and finally reprising her role as Chani in “Dune: Part Three” coming this December, not to mention the third season of “Euphoria” in 2026, Zendaya has been everywhere. Clearly, this intense pace has impacted her mental health, as noted by her partner Tom Holland.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of “The Odyssey” in New York, the actress, who has won two Emmy Awards for her role in Euphoria, expressed her desire to step back from her career. When asked about her upcoming film projects, she simply stated, “Oh, nothing at all. I’m just going to mind my own business and keep quiet…“

Zendaya also revealed that her recent projects had come too quickly for her: “Everything moves so fast. It feels like you’re in a new place every five minutes. Sometimes you just need to disappear for a while“. It remains to be seen how long this well-deserved break will last.

Still More Projects on the Horizon

But before stepping away from the camera, Zendaya will voice one of the ogre’s daughters and Fiona in “Shrek 5,” set to release in theaters on June 30, 2027. Additionally, she will soon portray a rock icon in Barry Jenkins’ biopic “Be My Baby,” where she will play singer Ronnie Spector of The Ronettes. No release date has been announced yet.
