A Well-Known Sketch Inspired the Project

Launched in September 2025 on Hulu and Disney+, Chad Powers was warmly received by audiences and critics in North America, thanks to its plot inspired by a well-known U.S. sketch. Originally played by Eli Manning on the sports show Eli’s Place, the character of Chad Powers was later portrayed by Glen Powell.

After his secret identity is discovered by his coach Ricky (Perry Mattfeld), Russ decides to defy her threats and continue playing. Revealing the truth could ruin their season and the dreams of her father, Coach Hudson (Steve Zahn).
