Glen Powell, the star of the blockbuster “Top Gun: Maverick”, is unrecognizable in this new series now streaming on Disney+!
We last saw the actor, shirtless and glistening on a beach in the “Top Gun” sequel, playing a spirited game of American football. While the football remains, Glen Powell has completely transformed his look for the comedic series “Chad Powers,” available on Disney+!
A Vibrant New Character
Indeed, the actor has shifted away from his playboy persona to portray Russ Holiday, a quarterback whose promising career is abruptly derailed due to misconduct on the field. Eight years later, against the advice of his friends and family, he decides to attempt an unlikely comeback by disguising himself to play at the highest level once again.
A Startling Transformation
Powell and some cast members were recently interviewed by Entertainment Tonight, where his transformation was a major topic of discussion. Thanks to modern makeup techniques, Powell was able to undergo his metamorphosis in just about an hour, but the effect was still stunning to everyone on set.
Steve Zahn recalls the first time he saw his co-star arrive on set: “It was incredible!” “Pores, hair, freckles [and more]” Glen Powell was simply unrecognizable! So much so that he even began to enjoy his new look off set: “I could walk around Atlanta without anyone recognizing me… […] and of course, I did!”
But beyond the jokes, playing football covered in prosthetics and makeup was a genuine challenge for the actor. This commitment is further proof of his dedication to this passion project, for which he also stepped into the roles of creator and showrunner, alongside Michael Waldron, known for the series “Loki”.
The series “Chad Powers” is available on Disney+.
