In the realm of cinema, Nicolas Cage is no stranger to taking on wildly eccentric roles. His performances in films like Mandy, Longlegs, and the recent wild ride, The Surfer, are a testament to this. In The Carpenter’s Son, Cage pushes the envelope even further by portraying the Carpenter, who is none other than Joseph, the father of Jesus Christ according to the Bible.
Written and directed by Lotfy Nathan, this film offers a particularly dark and horrifying take on the childhood of Christ. The trailer, released on October 1st, showcases many disturbing images and features Nicolas Cage in yet another unhinged role.
The synopsis of The Carpenter’s Son reads: “A dark tale of a family hidden in Roman Egypt. Known only as ‘the Child,’ the son is driven to doubt by another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, the Carpenter, revealing innate powers and a destiny beyond his control. As he harnesses his own power, the Child and his family become the target of both natural and divine horrors.“
