Ana de Armas Shines as New John Wick Star in Action-Packed ‘Ballerina’ Trailer!

This year, the hunting season kicks off on June 4th. The darkened theaters will light up with “Ballerina,” the first cinematic spin-off from the John Wick saga. While Keanu Reeves has hinted that his knees are less eager than he is for a fifth installment, it’s Ana de Armas who will continue and expand the action-packed franchise.

Taking some elements from the mythology (including characters played by Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, and the late Lance Reddick), this tale of vengeance promises to be tough, bloody, and spectacular, judging by the film footage unveiled by director Len Wiseman on Wednesday, March 19th.

Axes, swords, guns, flamethrowers, fists, and feet—every weapon is fair game for the heroine, Eve Macarro, to achieve her goals. Even if it means facing off against… John Wick himself? That’s the biggest shocker of the trailer, revealing a confrontation between Keanu Reeves and Ana de Armas, while everyone thought the former would become the latter’s mentor, a scenario that might still unfold by the film’s end, set alongside the events of the third installment of the saga.

This explains why John Wick is still alive, as are Charon (Lance Reddick) and The Director (Anjelica Huston), who appears in better shape, leading Ruska Roma, one of the High Table’s organizations known for its army of lethal ballerinas and whom Eve is seeking revenge against.

The quest will not be without tumult, deaths, broken bones, and crumpled metal, as showcased in the trailer that offers a glimpse of what the movie will bring, maintaining the standard of the saga, thanks in part to reshoots orchestrated by Chad Stahelski, the director of the films starring Keanu Reeves. Just days before summer, Ana de Armas will bring both heat and chill to movie theaters with “Ballerina,” and action fans are here for it.
