Artus Teases Next Film Project: 90% Chance After ‘Un p’tit truc en plus’ Success!

2024’s hit comedy is here! “A Little Something Extra,” the directorial debut of Artus, airs tonight on Canal+. In light of this, we delve into the comedian’s current and upcoming projects and he shares some insights on his next directorial venture with us.

Artus has delivered 2024’s surprise hit with “A Little Something Extra,” a comedy that marks his first stint as a director, humorously and empathetically exploring disability. Released last May, the film attracted a staggering 10.7 million viewers to theaters, a success that the young director hadn’t anticipated.

We caught up with Artus during his work on the animated film “Croquette, the Marvelous Cat,” where he voices the lead character. Reflecting on his film’s success, Artus shared, “I bought the first ticket for ‘A Little Something Extra’ at the first showing at Les Halles. I framed it, thinking it would be my keepsake from the film. And now, with its success, it’s quite funny. I’m glad to have one of the first 12 tickets.”

When will we see Artus again, both in front of and behind the camera? Let’s look at the projects the comedian, actor, and director is currently involved in.

On television, Artus is appearing in the fifth season of the Prime Video show “Lol: Last One Laughing.” He will try to keep a straight face alongside comedians such as Camille Chamoux, Vincent Dedienne, Fatoumata Kaba, Cédric Doumbe, Fred Testot, Marina Rollman, Alexandre Kominek, Jérôme Niel, and Muriel Robin.

On the big screen, Artus makes a cameo in Antoine Chevrollier’s upcoming film “La Pampa,” set for release on February 5, 2025. Premiered at the Critics’ Week at the Cannes Festival 2024, the movie features Amaury Foucher and Sayyid El Alami as Willy and Jojo, childhood friends inseparable from each other. To escape boredom, they ride at a motocross track known as La Pampa. One evening, Willy uncovers Jojo’s secret.

A Sci-Fi Film with Adèle Exarchopoulos

The 37-year-old actor is currently filming “Dog 51,” a new sci-fi movie by Cédric Jimenez (known for “North Brigade,” “November”). Artus stars alongside Gilles Lellouche, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Louis Garrel, Daphné Patakia, Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi, Xavier Dolan, Stéphane Bak, and Lala &ce.

Based on the novel of the same name by Laurent Gaudé and penned by Olivier Demangel, the film is set in 2045. Paris is divided into zones that segregate social classes and is monitored by the AI Alma. Salia, an elite investigator from Zone 2, and Zem, a disillusioned cop from Zone 3, are forced to work together to solve the murder of Alma’s inventor. Their investigation quickly unveils layers of conspiracy that challenge their loyalties and the very nature of the authority governing the country.

The shooting of the film is scheduled from August 19 to December 18, 2024, in the PACA regions, Ile-de-France, and Brussels. “Dog 51” is set to hit theaters on October 15, 2025.

Artus Sports a Mustache for Christophe Barratier

Artus will next join the set of Christophe Barratier’s new film “Children of the Resistance.” He mentioned he will be sporting a mustache for his role. Adapted from the popular comic series by Benoît Ers and Vincent Dugomier, the film will adapt two of the volumes, with potential for more adaptations if successful.

Set during World War II under German occupation, François, Eusèbe, and Lisa, three brave children, embark on a secret adventure: resisting the Nazis in the heart of France. Through sabotage, hidden messages, and dangerous escapes, they conduct covert operations right under the enemy’s nose. Courage and friendship are their only weapons against injustice. Artus plays one of the children’s fathers, starring alongside Gérard Jugnot, Pierre Deladonchamps, Leslie Medina, Julien Pestel, Julien Arruti, and Vanessa Guide. The children are portrayed by Lucas Hector, Nina Filbrandt, Octave Gerbi, and Oscar Boissière. No release date has been announced yet.

His Next Directorial Project? A Wild Western!

On the directorial front, the creator of this year’s hit already has a new project in mind. During our meeting, Artus revealed it would be a Western in the style of Mel Brooks’s cinema.

I dream of making a film like Mel Brooks.

“For my next film, I want to create a wild Western. I’m currently writing it. I don’t have the cast or the story yet; I just have the desire to delve into a world we don’t see often. I dream of making a film like Mel Brooks, like Blazing Saddles. These films are a bit crazy. I have two or three other ideas, but I think this is the one that will happen. There’s a 90% chance I’ll make this film.”

“A Little Something Extra” airs tonight on Canal+. Don’t miss it before its future remakes hit the big screen! When asked about potential new versions of his successful comedy, Artus hinted that an American remake, “A Little Something Extra,” was in the works, though he didn’t disclose much. So, stay tuned for more on this development.
