If you have a soft spot for the “Back to the Future” and “Indiana Jones” franchises, then you’re going to be thrilled by this quirky little fact! Even if you consider yourself the ultimate fan of these monumental film sagas, there’s a chance that this subtle detail might have slipped past your keen eye!
Did You Spot This Actor?
Recall the unforgettable opening scene of “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,” where a young Indy steals the Cross of Coronado from a band of treasure hunters? If you pay close attention during the train rooftop chase, you’ll notice a peculiar long-haired character.
Dressed in a round hat, a black vest, a white shirt, and small glasses, this ruffian attempts to retrieve the coveted cross from young Indy. This bandit is played by an actor named Jeff O’Haco, and you’ve definitely seen him somewhere before…
If you’re a die-hard “Back to the Future” fan, you might recognize one of the Libyan terrorists chasing Marty and Doc at Twin Pines Mall, just before the hero’s time travel adventure. O’Haco plays the driver of the van. The actor, a seasoned stunt performer, has appeared in numerous blockbusters from the 80s and 90s.
A Fearless Daredevil
He has notably worked on stunts in “Commando” with Schwarzenegger, “Rambo 3” and “Cliffhanger” with Stallone, “Wild Wild West” with Will Smith, and even “Thor” with Chris Hemsworth. After his cameo in the first “Back to the Future,” he returned in the third installment as a stunt performer.
The artist made his last on-screen appearance as an actor in the 2009 “Star Trek” by J.J. Abrams before shifting his focus back to stunt work (in films like “The Kingdom” and “Thor”). His most recent job was in 2019 as the stunt coordinator for the short film “El Caballero: Knights of Galicia.” Since then, Jeff O’Haco has stepped back from the film industry, likely enjoying a well-deserved retirement.
If you want to catch his performances in “Back to the Future” and “Indiana Jones 3,” head over to Netflix where both movies are available!
